Welcome to the future of Free Methodist Communications. We’re so glad you’ve stopped by.
The Four Cs
Our vision is simple: We will provide our denomination with a creative, coherent and compelling message — all in the context of community.
Innovation Is Our History
As we move toward a communications strategy suited for the 21st century, there will obviously be changes. But actually, change is part of our heritage, dating back to Jan. 9, 1868, in Rochester, N.Y., when the first issue of The Free Methodist was released and one of its first articles focused on innovation in communications. Since then we’ve seen many iterations of The Free Methodist, later known as Light & Life. We’ve created websites and e-mail newsletters too. (Just for fun, we’ve included here a picture of the first issue of The Free Methodist embedded into an iPad — to represent innovation both then and now.) The website you are currently viewing is just the first step toward a future about which we’re confident our founder, B. T. Roberts, would be excited.
One Message, Many Delivery Methods
As Free Methodists, we’ve never had a shortage of stories to tell. What we’re going to be developing over the next 12-18 months is a new strategy for telling them, one that helps us share our story together and invite conversation among all who call themselves Free Methodists and others who want to see what we’re all about. We will begin to change the focus of our delivery methods from primarily paper to a more holistic approach. Think about one article delivered via print, a (printable) Web page, a tablet PC, and any mobile device on the market right now or in the future. One message — many delivery methods.
So It Begins
Feel free to take a look at this website that we’ll be growing weekly. Take note of the latest issues of Light & Life magazine (optimized for the Web). Read about how we are innovating to help lead our denomination. Check out the list of website features. And please, contribute through comments, share on Facebook, tweet, re-tweet, and be a part of where we’re headed … together.

We’re with you all the way. Checking it out on my droid and it looks/works great. Keep it coming.
Glad it’s looking good. We tested it in several mobile devices and like the first blush of what it looks like. I’m sure it will evolve over time. Thanks for the comments. Keep them coming.
Woot. :)
Glad to see this proactive move. As a FM conference evangelist, I can stay “in the loop” while on the road.
Bravo Communications Department! I am very excited for the new direction of FM Communications. Jason and team, you are doing a wonderful job helping us all make the transitions which we need to make. You’re leading the way and I can’t wait to see what it will look like.
Wow! It is so neat that L & L is ‘up to date’ with 2010 technology! My heart is hurting though for those who do not have or do not have access to computers. I thank our Lord for our beautiful magazine!
