The Stage Is Set

Stage is set graphic for new Light and LifeIn recent issues of Light & Life magazine you may have read about the changes in store for the Free Methodist Church’s communication strategy. As winter sets in, the Light & Life Communications team will be building new collaborative tools to more effectively communicate to and about the denomination.  These will include:

  • A new denominational website
  • A revamped print magazine to reach every Free Methodist in North America
  • Greater emphasis on Spanish translation
  • New and improved online giving site
  • Enhanced GC11.org website with streaming video and social networking
  • All-electronic content optimized for mobile devices
  • Tablet apps
  • Free Methodist print materials for e-Readers (iPad & Kindle)

These are all on the docket for the Light & Life Communications team in the next 24-36 months. Many of these features will be unveiled at General Conference. We anticipate these changes will more efficiently connect with the body of believers called Free Methodists using all existing and emerging channels. But the best benefit of this new strategy is that it will connect the FM community with each other, allowing resource sharing and connection to the larger body.  The intended destination is for each Free Methodist to connect with two big ideas:

  • Where is the FM leadership leading? (Where are we going?)
  • What’s my role in the journey? (Where am I in the story?)

Check here regularly for updates on our progress. We’ll be telling the stories of how we are innovating and how the builds are going. We’ll also remind you of those things and more on our Facebook and Twitter sites (www.facebook.com/llcomm and www.twitter.com/llcomm). Below are some helpful things we’ve already written on these transitions. Feel free to forward this article to friends as well as post comments and questions below.
